ancientpanoply:

Armor of Willhelm, Reichsfreiherr von Roggendorf, 1523. This armor was designed to look like the cloth garb of the landsknechts, with their slashed and puffed sleeves. The original finish of the armor was in purple, with the “slashes” polished silver.

A lot of the armor pieces we have today were polished and their color removed during the Victorian era, to resemble their idea of what armor should look like.

Puffy armor.
